I was previously a founding director of Telling Architectural who were decimated by a huge fire in July last 2021 upon which the companies insurers and brokers denied negligence and liability (under challenge).

The assets of Telling Architectural were acquired by Ibstock plc in January 2022 creating the platform for the launch of Ibstock Telling GRC Limited.

The company operates within the Ibstock Futures division seeking diversification in modern methods of construction for medium and highrise projects in the commercial and residential sectors. The expansion of the division will receive investment in automation and parametric design/engineering.

Our experienced production team intend to re-gain their market lead in the innovation and quality we previously held in GRC manufacturing.

The widely acknowledged integrity of Ibstock PLC in safety, environmental and employee welfare will enable us to deliver unsurpassed service with surety of quality and over the coming years.

GRC Innov8 Limited – Norskreen® GRC

September 1986

joined Phillips Plasterers in Leeds (a division of the HAT Group and latterly BET) to set up a cladding contracting division based on the developing technologies in external wall insulation.

June 1989

Moved to a directorship within this group to Telling Birmingham to repeat the growth of this type of work in the Midlands and expand in to the London market. Developed light gauge steel walling system to receive external wall insulation and expand in to terracotta, brick, stone and glass wall claddings. Undertook prestigious projects such as the London Opera House.

2002

Formed design, technical sales and marketing company with engineer colleague Russell Clark. This company, Telling Architectural Limited grew both in the UK and USA and in 2013 expanded to become the largest manufacturers of glass fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) in the UK under the Norskreen® license with Byggimpuls AS from Norway. Sales grew to £18 million per annum with staff/factory operatives in excess of 120 personnel.

June 2021

A catastrophic fire at our Four Ashes manufacturing plant caused the collapse of the company when a fire condition was breached and the main insurers, Arch, denied liability. The £4 million losses of stock and trading whilst trying to find a solution forced the company in to administration in December 2021.

January 2022

The assets of Telling Architectural were acquired by Ibstock plc including the Norskreen® license to manufacture. I was appointed as a director to rebuild the company and ensure its successful relocation to the newly created state of the art production facility at Power Park, Hilton Cross, Wolverhampton.

January 2024

By joint agreement I left Ibstock Telling GRC with the transition to the new management team having been completed. I now operate as a consultant to Ibstock Telling GRC and other organisations developing the Norskreen® range of GRC and brick faced GRC systems internationally.

GRC INNOV8 Limited offers a range of commercial and technical services which has been my role over the last twenty years including feasibility studies, conceptual design, budget costing, commercial bid evaluation and dispute resolution.
